Our 30-plus state-of-the-art operating centers process more than 15 billion pieces of mail annually through the USPS workshare arrangement. This means Pitney Bowes sorts more mail to the 5-digit level and inducts it further into the USPS network, and everybody, including you, benefits.


02. Saving even more through minimizing internal expenses.
When you work with Pitney Bowes Presort Services, internal savings can be considerable. Equipment costs are just the start. You can eliminate or reduce strapping machines and supplies, conveyors and additional equipment essential to efficient mail processing. Time and labor required for sorting, tray tags, sleeving, strapping, reports, transportation, mail acceptance and overall management will be mostly things of the past. Technology upgrades will no longer be necessary. And you can dedicate floor space to your core business.


03. Improving delivery with proven programs and processes.
Our Mail Exchange program and proven efficiencies get your mail where it needs to be more efficiently. Our operating centers are strategically clustered allowing us to move mail between operating centers and qualify more mail down to the five-digit level.


The commingling process also enhances delivery. Mail is commingled, sorted and transported by using PostalOne!®, reducing the times the USPS handles the mail stream. Mail is transported directly on a reserved transportation mode set by the USPS. If mail trays need to be transported by air or truck, the USPS reserves space for Pitney Bowes Presort Services’ automated mail, ensuring the mail is moved and not staged or delayed. PostalOne! is a real-time electronic mail routing system that syncs our Presort Services to the USPS air and ground transportation routes for availability and delivery timing, ensuring your mail is directed to the most efficient delivery channel.


04. Taking security precautions as seriously as delivery services.
Recognizing the sensitivity of every piece of your mail we handle, Pitney Bowes Presort Services has implemented a robust security and monitoring environment in each operating center. We have rigid systems for:

  • Physical plant security, including card and key access, as well as surveillance cameras
  • Transportation of the mail
  • Information technology
  • Employment security restrictions, including background checks and drug screening

05. Preparing for and recovering from a disaster.
The loss of and even the delay of important mail can be a severe business issue. Pitney Bowes has a Business Resilience program in place encompassing Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Crisis Management and Client Security. Each operating center is required to exercise its site-specific short- and long-term Business Continuity plans regularly. The number and location of our Operating Centers allows Presort Services to shift processing of client mail from one center to another, should the primary center succumb to a crisis.
