  • New tech partnership will provide Pitney Bowes’ customers in Australia with more shipping options and flexibility including multi-carrier and overnight delivery
  • Partnership is in line with Pitney Bowes’ efforts to take the complexities out of shipping for small businesses

SYDNEY AUSTRALIA, November 12, 2019: Retail logistics software platform Shippit has today announced a major partnership with Pitney Bowes (NYSE: PBI), a global technology company that provides commerce solutions in the areas of e-commerce, shipping, mailing, finance and data, to provide small business customers more choice and flexibility for parcel delivery services.

The tech-enabled integration with Shippit will give customers using a Pitney Bowes SendPro™+ device, access to critical last mile delivery technology. Customers will have a choice of different market leading couriers and service options, including standard delivery with CouriersPlease, Allied Express, TNT and Fastway, as well as same day delivery with Allied Express and Bonds.

Ben Seal, Head of Shipping, Pitney Bowes Sending Technology Solutions ANZ said, “The recent Pitney Bowes Parcel Shipping Index revealed that optimising ‘last mile’ delivery is now a key concern and motivation for innovation, especially as consumer expectations shift from 2-day delivery, to 1 day and even 2 hours. The data revealed Australians shipped 864 million parcels in 2018, which means an average of 34 parcels per person and 2.36M parcels shipped every day.

“The Index also revealed 2018 as the first year that revenue from the parcel segment surpassed revenue from the mail segment for all major postal companies around the globe. Having an all-in-one shipping and mailing solution, like SendPro+, can help businesses cope with the continued increase in parcel sending. The partnership with Shippit means it’s now even easier for these customers to choose the best sending option each time, without being locked into a certain courier. Customers can easily compare shipping rates and delivery times to choose what works for them. Working with Shippit, we are making parcel sending more convenient, easier, faster, and cost-efficient.”

The integration marks Shippit’s foray into new avenues of technology, from its original online platform to a new product pipeline tailored to the B2B sector and focused on bringing enterprise-grade technology to the broader business community. The announcement builds on the company’s ongoing work to grow its international reach and broaden its ability to provide smarter, more cost-effective and efficient shipping options to businesses around the world.

Shippit joint CEO and co-founder Rob Hango-Zada, said “Pitney Bowes is a global leader in its field and we’re proud to have the opportunity to provide Shippit’s technology to countless business who trust Pitney Bowes for their most important deliveries. The partnership means small medium businesses can access a variety of enterprise-level delivery options at a low cost, right from their own office.

“Changing market conditions, the increasing immediacy of business interactions and the need to provide outstanding customer experiences means businesses are looking for the most cost-effective, yet fast way to get important deliveries to their customers. Our ability to aggregate information from multiple carriers and streamline the whole delivery process for users means that we’re in a unique position to meet the needs of Pitney Bowes’ customers and solve a lot of the issues they have traditionally faced when it comes to the delivery process. We’re putting an end to terrible fulfilment and delivery experiences and let businesses focus on what they do best,” he said.

Having raised just over $3 million since its inception, Shippit has grown from its startup roots to become a notable promising tech venture. In the last 12 months, Shippit has received recognition with awards, including the 2018 Westpac Business of Tomorrow and the 2018 Retail Fulfilment Award for the Best Fulfilment Solution.

Shippit is now gearing up for its next phase of growth, which includes introducing a number of additional technology products to streamline the friction in last mile delivery logistics and continued expansion into new markets, with a keen eye on Asia where it is said over 50 per cent of the world’s eCommerce transactions will be generated by the year 2025.

The Shippit solution will be live on Pitney Bowes SendPro+ devices next month.
