Error Code: 1253, How to resolve on the DM400, DM500 and more

Issue
The meter displays error code 1253 and will not print.
Cause
The mail piece is too long.
Resolution
Make sure the mail piece is within specification (13 inches long).
You may be able to clear the error by simply restarting your meter and blowing out the mail path. Here are the steps to follow for a safe restart:

- Turn the power off with the power switch, located on the left side of the equipment; wait for the display to turn off
- Using a can of non-flammable canned air and working from the left side of the machine to the exit, blow onto the feed deck that the envelopes ravel on
- Wait one minute, then turn the power switch back on
