Replacing the ink cartridge on the DM50-DM60

How to change the ink cartridge on the DM50/DM55 (K721) and DM60 (K722).

The franking machine works on an ink drop system to determine when ink is low or depleted.
  • When the Low Ink message is displayed, order a replacement ink cartridge.
  • When the Ink Out message displays and the amber LED blinks, the ink supply is depleted and the franking machine will not print. Replace the ink cartridge immediately.

Follow the instructions below to see how to replace the ink cartridge on your DM50/DM55 or DM60.

Follow these steps to change the ink cartridge:
  1. Press the Menu / Options key.
  2. Press Review (down) until the message Use ink functions? is displayed.
  3. Press Enter/Yes.
  4. Press Review (down) key until the message Replace ink cartridge? is displayed.
  5. Press Enter/Yes.
  6. Open the top cover and locate the print head.
  7. Press the top of the ink cartridge latch located on the green unlock icon.
    Note: If the latch is stuck, use the bottom of a pen or the bottom end of a highlighter to firmly press down on the lock.
  8. Tilt the old cartridge forward and lift it out. Discard the old cartridge.

  1. Remove the new cartridge from its package and pull off the protective tape.
  2. Tilt the new cartridge forward and insert it into the print head. Position the cartridge so that it is upright.
  3. Press down on the ink cartridge latch firmly until it locks into place.

  1. Close the top cover.
  2. Press Enter/Yes.
  3. Press Enter/Yes again to confirm the replacement. A print head initialisation process occurs for two to three minutes.
  4. When prompted, insert an envelope or tape sheet to print a test pattern to confirm the print quality is satisfactory.
  • If the test print is good, press Enter/Yes.
  • If the test print is poor, press No. The franking machine will clean the printer nozzles and prompt you to print another test pattern.
