Error Code: 0503, Resolve on the DM500, DM525, and more

The meter displays error code 0503 and will not print.


There may be a tape jammed in the system.


If there is a tape jammed in the system, follow these directions to remove it.
  1. Press 6946 and the Funds button.
  2. Select Diagnostics.
  3. Select PMC Diagnostics.
  4. Select Print Head Maintenance.
  5. Select Move Print Head/Cap.
  6. Select Open Cap.
  7. Select Move to Envelope Position.
  8. Lift the top cover where ink cartridge holder / print head is located.
  9. Look behind the print head to see if tape is jammed in machine. If necessary, clear the tape jam.
  10. Close the cover.
  11. Select Move to Home Position.
  12. Select Close Cap.
  13. Press the left arrow to exit.
  14. Test $0.00 tapes 10 times.
You may also be able to clear the error by restarting the meter. Follow these steps to restart safely:
  1. Turn the power off with the power switch.
  2. Wait for the display to turn off.
  3. Wait one to three minutes, then turn the power switch back on.
