Product Feature: Printing issue

If you receive something like the following Errors / Warnings on a PIOM system, don't panic.  This can be resolved.

E022401 IPDSPRT - MICR font C:\MGR2.5\SYSTEM\JOB76889\C0E13BP_T100ANSI.VDF requested - printer (10.xxx.xxx.xxx:5001)  has no MICR support
W029270 VIPEXEC - Abort message: "IPDSPRT - MICR font C:\MGR2.5\SYSTEM\JOB76889\C0E13BP_T100ANSI.VDF requested - printer (10.xxx.xxx.xxx:5001)  has no MICR support" for job 76889 sent to ADMINISTRATOR by IPDSPRT

IPDS printers many times will report MICR functionality but when sent a MICR font refuse to process it.  We can force the system to Abort or Continue with the following option:

MICR_ABORT_OR_CONTINUE

This command controls whether to abort or continue when there is a mismatch between the MICR requirements of the job and the available MICR functionality of the printer. It is not normally required, as it would be inappropriate to send an MICR job to a non MICR printer. This command is, however, useful in setting up a job if a MICR printer is not available.

The permitted values are:

YES, or PROMPT  The first time this occurs an Abort/Continue dialog is displayed with the message:
“MICR font name requested - printer has no MICR”

NO, or ABORT  The job aborts with the message:
“MICR font name requested - printer has no MICR”

CONTINUE   The first time this occurs a debug message is placed in the system log at log level 0:
“MICR font name requested - printer has no MICR”

Default: NO
Example: MICR_ABORT_OR_CONTINUE=YES

The option selected will depend on your needs at the time depending on if this is during initial job setup or Production.
