"Low Battery" messages on your meter

UPDATED: June 1, 2017

"Low Battery" or "Urgent Battery Warning" messages mean your battery or your meter must be replaced. Soon, your meter will not operate. 

Pressing the Clear button may clear the message and allow you to run mail temporarily.

To safely restart the meter:

  1. Unplug the power cord.
  2. Wait one to three minutes.
  3. Plug the power cord back in, ensuring that it is plugged directly into a wall outlet.

If the battery message returns after restarting, the meter or the battery will need to be replaced. The meter battery cannot be replaced like an ordinary household battery. It is part of the meter security device that protects your postage funds.

 IMPORTANT: If your battery actually expires, your postage meter will lock up. Your meter will then need to be serviced for funds reconciliation.
