Changing the modem string on the on the DM300C-DM475

Changing the modem string will slow down the modem speed on the DM300C, DM400 or DM475, which will provide a better chance of the meter connecting to the Pitney Bowes Data Center.

  1. Press Menu.
  2. Press Page Down.
  3. Select Data Center Options.
  4. Select Phone Settings.
  5. Press Page Down.
  6. Select Modem String.
  7. Select Continue.
  8. Select Edit Options to change the modem string. The current modem string displays at the top of the string.
  9. (Optional) Select Restore Defaults to restore the modem string to the default to ATE0&K0M1X4W2S9=50S7=90^M.
  10. The current modem string displays at the top of the string.
  11. Select Move Cursor Left two times. The cursor now appear on the "^".
  12. Open the cover to access the Alpha numeric keypad.
  13. Press and hold Symbol and press G (+).
  14. Press and hold Shift and press M, then S.
  15. Press and hold Symbol and press A (=).
  16. Press and hold Shift and press V.
  17. On the numeric keypad, press 3 and then press 2.
  18. Press and hold Symbol and press B (^).
  19. Press and hold Shift and press M.
  20. Verify the string shows ATE0&K0M1X4W2S9=50S7=90+MS=V32^M. Important: Only the last 21 characters of the string appear on the screen, including the changes applied: MS=V32^M.
  21. Select OK.
  22. Select Accept.
  23. Select Done/Enter.
  24. Press Normal Preset.
