Creating a package status
You can create package statuses as needed to support your workflows. Up to 20 package statuses may be created per inbound site, as well as 20 at the enterprise level. You can choose whether to show each status on the Receive, Deliver, Pouch, and Edit screens.
- Select Settings > Package Statuses.
- Select Create Status.
- Select the Active radio button.
- Enter a Name for the status.
- (Optional) Enter a Description.
- If necessary, select the sites for which you want the status to be visible. By default, all sites are selected.
- (PitneyTrack Enterprise only) Select which System Status Group you want the status to be in. Each status must be in either Undelivered or Closed. This controls where they appear on the home screen dashboard.
- (PitneyTrack Enterprise only) If you use custom status groups, select the group(s) you want this status to be in from the Custom Status Group menu. Each status can be assigned to more than one status group if needed.
- Under Select workflows where status is available, select which screens you want the status to be displayed on.
- (PitneyTrack Enterprise only) If you use delivery time service level agreements (SLAs), and you want to pause the delivery time tracking when packages are in this status, select Pause the delivery timing when package enters this status.
- Select Save.
The custom status will now be visible on the pages you selected and in the package history.
Editing a package status
You can edit a package status if you need to change its settings.
- Select Settings > Package Statuses.
- Select the edit icon next to the status you wish to update.
- Update the status as needed.
- Select Save.
Changing the order of the statuses
You can change the order of the statuses, if desired.
- Select Reorder Statuses.
- Use the drag icons to click and drag the statuses up and down in the list. When the status is in the desired location, let go.
- Select Save.
Deleting a package status
You can delete a package status if you no longer need it, as long as there are no packages in the system that have that status.
Note: Built-in system statuses cannot be deleted, but they can be edited and set to Inactive if you don't want to use them.
- Select Settings > Package Statuses.
- Select the delete icon next to the status you wish to delete.
- Select Delete.
Managing status groups (PitneyTrack Enterprise only)
You can organize package statuses into groups. The system comes with two default groups:
- Undelivered: Packages that are still in progress
- Closed: Packages that are completed
The Delivered status is in the Closed group and cannot be moved. All other package statuses are in the Undelivered group by default, but can be moved if needed by editing the status as described above.
Creating a custom status group
You can create your own custom status groups if you need more groups other than Undelivered and Closed.
Custom status groups are applied at the site level. If you select specific sites when creating a custom status group, the group will only be visible when those sites are selected.
- Select Settings > Package Statuses.
- Select Manage Status Group.
- Select Create New Custom Status Group.
- Enter the Custom Status Group Name.
- Select the sites where you want the status group to be visible. By default, all sites are selected.
- Select Create.

- Select Manage Status Group.
- Select the edit icon next to the group you want to update.
- To rename the status group, change the Custom Status Group Name field.
- To change which sites can use this status group, update the Site field.
- Select Rename.
