Make sure that your system is connected using SmartLink™, PC Meter Connect, local area network connection (LAN) or an analog phone line to communicate with the Pitney Bowes Data Centre.

Using Smartlink™Unless a lock code is enabled, meters that are always powered on and connected via SmartLink™ get updated automatically.
If you use a lock code, unlock the meter and follow these steps to update your meter:
- Press C to go to the Home screen.
- Press Refill Postage.
- Select Check PBP balance.
- Select Continue.
- Select Download Now or Get Update Now. The screen displays several messages including downloading updates and installing update.
Important: If the
Download Now or
Get Update Now prompt does not appear, your meter may already be up to date, or updates are not ready for download. Visit our
Rates and Software Updates page for more information.
- At the prompt System Update Complete, select Return Home.
Using PC Meter Connect™, a local area network connection (LAN), or an analog phone line (that is not shared with a fax or other device)
- Press C to go to the Home screen.
- Press Refill Postage.
- Select Check PBP balance.
- Select Continue.
- Select Download Now or Get Update Now. The screen displays several messages including downloading updates and installing update.
Important: If the
Download Now or
Get Update Now prompt does not appear, your meter may already be up to date, or updates are not ready for download. Visit our
Rates and Software Updates page for more information.
- At the prompt System Update Complete, select Return Home.
Click on the
Confirm Meter Update button for your meter to verify that your Canada Post rate update was installed successfully:
Warning! Do not unplug your power cord or remove the network cords from your meter while updating, as this may cause damage to your meter. However, if your meter has been unresponsive for more than 15 minutes:
- Disconnect the power cord.
- Wait one minute.
- Plug your meter's power cord back in.
- Restart the update process.
Note: After you download the new rates, the postage meter stores them until they take effect. Your meter automatically switches to the new rates
on the effective date if the meter is updated
before the effective date.
