Updating Canada Post rates on the mailstation series

Products affected: mailstation™ (K7EC) and mailstation2™ (K7C2)
Ensure that your system is connected using SmartLink™, PC Meter Connect, or an analog phone line to communicate with the Pitney Bowes Data Centre.

Using SmartLink™ (only K7C2)
Meters connected via SmartLink™ will update automatically unless lock code is enabled.

To update your meter using a lock code, unlock your meter and follow the steps below.
  1. Press the Funds key.
  2. Press the Review down arrow key until you see Check amt available to download? and Press Enter/Yes
  3. Your meter connects with the Data Centre and displays various messages as it attempts to connect.
  4. Review your by PB Postage balance and press Enter/Yes.
  5. When prompted to Refill Postage?, press No.
  6. When prompted with New Software available - Update?, press Enter/Yes.
Note: If the update prompt does not appear, the meter may already be up to date or updates are not ready for download.  Please visit our Rates and Software Updates page for more information
  1. Your meter displays the status of the download.  The download completes in approximately 5 - 10 minutes.  
  2. Wait until the meter prompts Download complete, then press Enter/Yes.
  3. Press Enter/Yes for each message until the meter returns to the Home screen.
  • If the message Connection Required appears, press Enter/Yes, as you have another update to download.


Using PC Meter Connect™ (only K7C2)
  1. On the PC running the PC Meter Connect application, double click on the PCMC icon to open it up.
  2. Select the Updates tab.
  3. When prompted, select Continue.
Note: If the update prompt does not appear, the meter may already be up to date or updates are not ready for download.  Please visit our Rates and Software Updates page for more information
  1. When it is complete, select Done.


Using an analog phone line that is not shared with a fax or other device
  1. Press the Funds key.
  2. Press the Review down arrow key until you see Check amt available to download? and then Press Enter/Yes
  3. Your meter connects with the Data Centre and displays various messages as it attempts to connect.
  4. Review your PB Postage balance and press Enter/Yes.
  5. When prompted to Refill Postage?, press No.
  6. When prompted with New Software available - Update?, press Enter/Yes.

  1. Your meter displays the status of the download.  The download completes in approximately 5 - 10 minutes.

  3. Press Enter/Yes for each message until the meter returns to the Home screen.
    • If the message Connection Required appears, press Enter/Yes, as you have another update to download.


Click on the Confirm Meter Update button to verify that your Canada Post rate update was installed successfully:

On completion of your meter update there are no further actions required. If the meter is updated before the effective date, it will automatically switch to the new rates on the effective date.

Warning! Do not unplug your power cord or remove the network cords from your meter while updating, as this may cause damage to your meter. However, if your meter has been unresponsive for more than 15 minutes:
  • Disconnect the power cord
  • Wait one minute
  • Plug your meter's power cord back in
  • Restart the update process
