Turning off sleep mode on a Brother QL-800 printer for PitneyShip

By default the Brother QL-800 printer turns off after 60 minutes of non-use and must be turned back on manually. You can disable this feature.

By default the Brother QL-800 printer goes into sleep mode after 60 minutes of non-use. Printing when the printer is asleep does not automatically wake it up. It must be turned back on manually with the power button. To disable this feature:

Windows

  1. Go to support.brother.com.
  2. Select Downloads.
  3. Enter the model number of the printer, QL-800, and select Search.
  4. Choose your operating system, then select OK.
  5. Select Printer Setting Tool under Utilities.
  6. Select Agree to the EULA and Download. The file will be downloaded to your computer's Downloads folder.
  7. Go to your Downloads folder and open the file you just downloaded.
  8. When the installer says Installation complete, select Finish.
  9. Go to Windows Start > All Programs > Brother > Printer Setting Tool.
  10. Select Device Settings.
  11. From the Auto Power On menu, choose On.
  12. From the Auto Power Off(AC/DC) menu, choose None.
  13. Select Apply.
  14. Select Exit.
  15. Select Exit again.

Mac

  1. Go to support.brother.com.
  2. Select Downloads.
  3. Enter the model number of the printer, QL-800, and select Search.
  4. Choose your operating system, then select OK.
  5. Select Printer Setting Tool under Utilities.
  6. Select Agree to the EULA and Download. The file will be downloaded to your computer's Downloads folder.
  7. Go to your Downloads folder and open the pstm135x12all.dmg file you just downloaded, then open the Brother PrinterSettingTool.pkg file inside of it.
  8. Select Continue.
  9. Select Continue again.
  10. Select Agree.
  11. Select Install.
  12. The installer may ask for your Mac system login and password.
  13. When the installation is complete, select Close.
  14. Go to Go > Applications > Brother > Printer Setting Tool.
  15. From the Auto Power on menu, choose Enable.
  16. From the Auto Power Off(AC/DC) menu, choose None.
  17. Select Apply Settings to the Printer.
  18. Select Exit.
