Using your FD85 (Martin Yale 1812)
Products affected: FD85 (Martin Yale 1812) Folder
Follow the steps below to understand how to use and run your FD85 (Martin Yale 1812) Folder.
Running the Folder
Press the RUN/STOP button to initiate folding. Folding will continue until either the RUN/STOP button is pressed or the feed table becomes empty of paper.
Stopping the Folder
If the folder is running, pressing the RUN/STOP button once performs a normal shutdown, allowing all paper to clear the machine before the main motor stops.
Important: Pressing the RUN/STOP button twice in quick succession causes an immediate stop of the main motor. This is to be used for emergency stops only.
Ensure that all paper is cleared from the exit conveyor before folding more paper if the folder has been stopped mid-cycle.
Running a test fold
Press the TEST button once to feed and fold two sheets of paper and then stop.
Adjusting the Folder speed
To adjust the speed of your folder, press either the increase or decrease button (incremental speed adjustment buttons). The indicator lights to the right of the incremental speed adjustment buttons show the amount of increase or decrease. You can adjust the folder speed while the folder is running.
For most folding jobs, you can run the folder at full speed (100%). Typically, the only time you run the folder at less than 100% is when folding lightweight paper (less than 20#) or if the paper has a glossy or silky smooth finish.
