What are transactions on the SendPro MailCenter 1000, 2000, and 3000

Every time you change a job setting like an account, class or weighing method this is classed as a new transaction.

Products affected: SendPro® MailCenter 1000, SendPro® MailCenter 2000, SendPro® MailCenter 3000

Your meter records the following job settings when running mail:

  • User logins (if used).
  • Accounts (if used).
  • Class or fee.
  • Job ID
  • Weighing method (Attached Scale, Weigh-on the-Weigh (WOW), etc.).

Every time you change one of these properties, it is called a transaction. Note: A transaction is often referred to as a batch.

Other reasons a transaction can close automatically:

  • If you turn the meter on with a transaction that was not closed prior to turning off.
  • When you attempt to print external reports.
  • When the date changes (at midnight).
  • Before accounting data is uploaded to the web.
  • Before a transaction is transferred.

If your meter includes the Weigh-on-the-Weigh(WOW) feature, it tracks the weight of each mailpiece during processing. If the mail class changes automatically during a mail run, the meter starts a new transaction. As mailpieces are processed, the class may switch back and forth, and the meter handles these changes automatically.

If this happens, the meter records the mailpieces to the correct transaction. When the transaction ends, it stores two separate transactions in the batch.

Managing transactions

After you process a transaction, select Manage Accounts from the Home screen to view or edit it. You can also create filters to group transactions for easier viewing and editing.

Ending a batch

A batch is used to track the number of pieces of mail processed for each job or mail run. You can clear the batch at the end of a run or just before starting a new run.

To end a batch, select End Batch on the Run Mail screen.
