You can create a differential weighing job to process mixed weight mail more efficiently. Your meter calculates the correct weight and price as you remove and print each mailpiece from the scale.
Differential weighing can also automatically print a tape every time you remove larger pieces of mail such as large envelopes or packages from the scale.
Important: Make sure each mailpiece weighs at least what the differential weighing threshold is set to. See Editing the Differential weighing threshold.
- Select Run Mail from the Home screen.
- Select the Weighing button.
- Select Differential Weighing.
- Select the appropriate print option:
- Select Auto tape printing if your mail is too large to be processed through the meter. Each time you remove a mailpiece from the scale, the meter prints a postage tape automatically.
- Select Auto envelope printing if you have envelopes that you can feed through the meter. The meter automatically feeds the envelopes and prints postage.
- Select Envelope or tape printing if you have mail that is a mix of envelopes and packages (mailpieces that can be fed through the meter and others that require a tape). Each time you remove a mailpiece from the scale, you need to select either Start or Tape to print postage.
- Place the mail on the scale and then select OK.
- Select the desired class.
- (Optional) Select an account.
- Remove one mailpiece from the scale. Remove each mailpiece in a single continuous upward motion. Do not slide the mailpiece across mail on the scale.
- The meter calculates how much that mailpiece weighs by checking how much less the stack of mail weighs.
- The print option you selected determines how the meter prints the postage.
- If you chose Auto tape printing, the meter prints a postage tape.
- If you chose Auto envelope printing, place the envelope on the feed deck. The meter automatically feeds the envelope and prints postage.
- If you chose Envelope or tape printing, select Tape to print a tape or place the envelope on the feed deck and then select Start. When you remove the last mailpiece from the scale, the meter asks you if you want to print postage just in case you are removing an empty mail tray.
- Select Save As.
- Enter the new job name and then select OK.
