PitneyShip Release Notes version 1.130.0 (August 27, 2026)

PitneyShip Release Notes for version 1.130.0 (August 27, 2026).

Products affected: PitneyShip®

What's New

Enhanced Multi-Recipient shipping

This enhancement helps users who select Multiple Recipients on the Create Shipping Label page by recommending the Shipments Grid, which is designed for high-volume shipping. Previously, the multi-recipient section was disabled, requiring users to navigate away from the page. It has now been replaced with a non-blocking informational alert.

The alert highlights key Shipments Grid features, including the ability to print more than 50 labels at once, upload CSV or Excel files containing large numbers of shipments, and import orders from platforms such as Shopify, eBay, and Amazon. It also includes a direct link to the Shipments page for quick access.

The existing multi-recipient workflow remains fully available. Users can dismiss the alert and continue with their current process. After the alert has been dismissed three times, it will no longer be displayed.

Enhanced Importer of Record and International Shipping Compliance support

This enhancement improves compliance for UPS and FedEx international shipments originating from the United States by introducing Importer of Record (IOR) support, dynamic Tax ID and Tax Type validation, and enhanced Duties & Taxes (D&T) billing functionality.

Users can now select an Importer of Record during shipment creation, with the recipient automatically set as the default IOR while still allowing an alternate importer to be selected. The chosen IOR is included in carrier requests for both UPS and FedEx shipments.

Tax ID and Tax Type requirements are now validated dynamically based on the importer’s address type. For business addresses, both Tax ID and Tax Type are required before shipment processing can continue. For residential addresses, these fields remain optional.

The enhancement also improves Duties & Taxes billing for eligible U.S.-to-Canada shipments, automatically defaulting D&T charges to the recipient when a single-payer account is used. These compliance updates apply to all U.S. international shipments and are supported across Ship Another, Presets, Ship Orders, and multi-piece shipment workflows.

Enhanced Item management and Packing Slip support for Manual Orders

This enhancement allows users to add and manage item-level details for manual orders directly from the Orders Grid, providing better visibility into order contents and enabling Packing Slip generation for manually created shipments.

Users can add item details, including Item Name, SKU, Quantity, and Unit Price, through the Edit Items option in the Packaging section. Up to 30 line items can be added per order, and validation ensures that an Item Name is entered before changes can be saved.

After items are saved, the Packaging section displays a summary of item details, quantities, pricing, subtotals, and the total order value. Users can update item information at any time using Edit Items. Once line items have been added, users can generate and print a Packing Slip, helping support fulfillment workflows that require shipment documentation in addition to a shipping label.

Enhanced Bulk Contact deletion and management

This enhancement improves Bulk Contact Deletion by enabling large volumes of contacts to be deleted more efficiently and reliably. Previously, bulk deletion requests involving thousands of contacts could fail due to processing limitations. With this update, large-scale deletion requests are processed asynchronously, improving performance, scalability, and reliability.

The contact management experience has also been streamlined with new deletion options, including Delete All Shared Contacts, Delete All Private Contacts, and Delete Selected Contacts. Users can specify whether deletion applies to recipients or recipients and senders, while maintaining existing protections for sender records where applicable.

Additional controls have been introduced for shared contacts, allowing administrators to restrict contact visibility to specific user roles. To help prevent accidental data loss, verified sender contacts are now protected from bulk deletion and can only be removed individually. Existing sender deletion behavior remains unchanged, ensuring consistency for current workflows and plan-specific requirements.

Latest Updates

Improved Mobile experience for Create Shipping Label Summary and Print Options

This enhancement improves the responsiveness of the Create Shipping Label Summary and Print Options modules within the web flow, providing a better experience on mobile phones, tablets, and other small-screen devices. Previously, these modules were not fully optimized for smaller screens, which could lead to display issues and reduced usability.

With this update, both modules automatically adjust to fit different screen sizes. In the Create Shipping Label Summary module, users can now expand or collapse summary details using the Show Summary and Hide Summary options, making information easier to view on smaller screens. In the Print Options module, all print option checkboxes, including Shipping Label, Receipt with Shipping Label, Summary Receipt, Certificate of Origin, and other carrier-specific options, are now fully responsive, improving accessibility and ease of use across devices.

Streamlined sign up with Email Verification

This enhancement improves the sign up experience by introducing secure 6-digit OTP email verification, allowing users to verify their email address and access PitneyShip without signing in again.

The updated process includes improved email validation, detection of incomplete or existing accounts, OTP verification with expiration and resend limits, and clearer messages for invalid or expired codes. Users receive a welcome email after successful verification, while unsuccessful sign-up attempts trigger an order-not-processed email. These enhancements are available in both the web application and mobile app and apply to new subscription-based users who sign up through the Marketing page.

Improved Usage Fee visibility in the Shipping workflow

This enhancement provides greater transparency into shipping costs for PitneyShip users on zero-subscription-fee plans by displaying applicable Usage Fees throughout the shipping workflow. Users can now see these fees during rate selection, in the side panel, and within the Print Labels Cost Breakdown modal before purchasing a label.

A dedicated Usage Fee line item is now displayed separately from the Label Subtotal and is included in the Total Payment Amount. This information is available for both single shipments and bulk label printing, giving users clear and consistent visibility into shipping costs before completing their transaction.

Improved USPS Returned-to-Sender Tracking verbiage

This enhancement improves shipment tracking accuracy by updating how certain USPS tracking events are displayed. Previously, the USPS event Delivered To Original Sender appeared as a standard Delivered status, which could be misleading because it indicates that the shipment was returned to the sender rather than delivered to the intended recipient.

With this update, shipments with the USPS tracking event Delivered To Original Sender will now be displayed as Returned to Sender throughout shipment tracking interfaces and Shipment History, providing users with clearer and more accurate shipment status information.

Line-Item support for Manual Order creation

This enhancement builds on the existing Manual Order Management functionality by adding line-item support to the Create Manual Order workflow. Users can now add one or more items when creating a manual order and enter details such as Item Name, SKU, Unit Cost, and Quantity for each item.

By capturing item-level information during order creation, this update provides greater visibility into order contents and enables more detailed and accurate order records.

Automatic Fulfillment updates for Non-Trackable Shipments

This enhancement improves order management for shipments using non-trackable shipping services, such as USPS First-Class Mail Large Envelope. The system now automatically updates the status of these orders to Fulfilled/Shipped in connected marketplaces when a shipping label is created.

Previously, orders shipped with non-trackable services often remained unfulfilled in connected stores because no tracking number was available to send back to the marketplace. This required merchants to manually update order statuses and increased the risk of cancellations if fulfillment deadlines were missed.

With this update, the system generates and sends a unique fulfillment identifier based on the Order Number and Shipment ID in place of a tracking number. This allows connected marketplaces, such as Shopify and Walmart, to recognize the order as fulfilled and automatically update its status, eliminating the need for manual intervention.

Enhanced Address Book Search experience

This enhancement improves the Address Book search experience by making it faster and easier for users to find contacts during shipping workflows. Search results are now automatically ranked by relevance, eliminating the need to manually select Begins With, Contains, or Ends With search filters.

The updated search logic prioritizes contacts that begin with the search term, followed by contacts that contain the term, and then those that end with it. When a contact matches multiple criteria, the most relevant result is displayed first. These improvements provide a more intuitive search experience while continuing to return a complete set of matching contacts.
