Sending EU De Minimis Product Identifiers with UPS shipments in SendPro Enterprise
Products affected: SendPro® Enterprise
SendPro Enterprise can send EU product identifiers (PIDs) to UPS for business-to-consumer sales imported into the European Union, as required by the EU.
UPS requires the Merchant and Manufacturer Product IDs for every item that is not exempt. When the identifiers are sent, SendPro Enterprise also tells UPS whether the shipper and the receiver are a business or a consumer, based on the Residential flag of each address.
Enabling the feature
Sending the product identifiers to UPS is controlled by a the UPS API carrier setting UPS Send EU De Minimis Product Identifiers. This setting is set to False by default. To send the identifiers, go to the Administration App and set UPS Send EU De Minimis Product Identifiers to True.
Product identifier columns
For international shipments, the package contents grid contains four columns:
- Merchant Product ID: Your own product identifier for the item, for example your SKU
- Manufacturer Product ID: The manufacturer's own part, model, or SKU number. It must not be a copy of the Merchant Product ID.
- Standardized Manufacturer Product ID: A standard identifier such as a GTIN, EAN, UPC or ISBN, if the product has one. Leave it blank if there is none.
- Product ID Exempt: This defaults to No. Set it to Yes only if the item qualifies for a regulatory exemption from the product identifier requirement.
Shipments affected
SendPro Enterprise sends the product identifiers to UPS when all of the following apply:
- The setting UPS Send EU De Minimis Product Identifiers is True.
- The shipment is sent from outside of the EU to an EU member state or a territory inside the EU customs area that SendPro Enterprise lists under its own country code (Monaco, the Åland Islands, the Canary Islands, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Réunion, Mayotte, French Guiana and Saint-Martin).
- The Ship To address is marked as Residential (the receiver is a consumer).
- The reason for export is Sale.
- A UPS international form is requested: a commercial invoice, a paperless invoice, a certificate of origin, or a USMCA certificate. UPS receives the identifiers as part of these forms. If you print your own commercial invoice instead, include the identifiers on that invoice.
