Checking if your system is compatible with DeviceHub in PitneyShip, PitneyShip Pro, or PitneyShip Enterprise

You can use the DeviceHub compatibility checker tool to check your computer’s network configuration to find out if it will work with DeviceHub. It is recommended to do this check before you try to install DeviceHub.

Products affected: PitneyShip®, PitneyShip® Pro, PitneyShip® Enterprise

The compatibility check is performed as part of the DeviceHub installation, but you can run it manually if needed. It checks your computer’s network configuration to find out if it will work with DeviceHub.

Important: If DeviceHub is already installed and running on the computer, the check will fail. Only use this tool if DeviceHub has not yet been installed.

Only users with an Admin role can perform this procedure.

  1. Open DeviceHub.
  2. Go to the Settings tab.
  3. Click Run DeviceHub Network Diagnostics.
  4. If the check is successful, click Done.
  5. If the check is not successful, proceed to the next section for troubleshooting.

Troubleshooting

If you see the message "Some required ports are unavailable" or "Some checks could not be completed", it means that your system is not compatible with DeviceHub because either a port or one or more URLs that DeviceHub needs access to are being blocked. You will need to contact your IT department to make sure that all of the ports and URLs listed in the DeviceHub Networking Requirements and Technical Specifications are available.

If you see the message that Port 443 is already in use by another process, it may mean that DeviceHub is already installed and running on your computer. You can check by going to Start > All Programs and looking for DeviceHub. The compatibility checker tool should only be used if DeviceHub has not yet been installed.
