Shipping and tracking an internal package in PitneyTrack Enterprise and PitneyShip Enterprise

If you have the Unified View feature, you can track packages that are sent from one location to another within your organization.

Products affected: PitneyShip® Enterprise, PitneyTrack® Enterprise

If you have the Unified View feature, you can track packages that are sent from one location to another within your organization. The entire journey of internal packages is visible in one place, from the time they're sent to the time they're delivered. You do not need to have separate shipping and receiving records for the same package.

The steps in this process may be performed by different users:

Creating the request to send the package - sender/requestor

The sender of the package must create a ship request using a special carrier that is designated for internal packages. The ship request is created under Shipping & Mailing, and a corresponding outbound package record with the same ID is created under Receiving.

  1. On the Shipping Labels tab or the Shipping & Mailing menu at the top, select Create Ship Request.
  2. Select the special carrier that is designated for your organization's internal packages. This carrier name will vary depending upon your setup.
  3. Complete the rest of the information for the package.
  4. Select Print Ship Request and print the request.
    • To email the ship request instead of printing it, select Email, enter the email address, and select Send Email.
Important: Emailed labels expire after 24 hours.
  5. Follow your internal process to deliver the package to the mailroom or shipper.

Printing the shipping label - mailroom/shipper

The shipper or mailroom staff prints the shipping label and delivers it to the carrier.

  1. To open the ship request, either:
    1. Go to Shipping & Mailing > Manage Ship Request.
    2. Select Print Ship Request next to the request you wish to print.
      - OR -
    1. Go to Shipping & Mailing > Create Shipping Label.
    2. Select Find a Ship Request.

  2. Complete the information and print the shipping label as usual.
