Important change in how you access UPS® rates and services

What You Need to Know:

To protect your account security, UPS is changing how shipping software, like PitneyShip® Pro, connects to their systems to use UPS rates and print shipping labels. UPS implemented an OAuth 2.0 security model to enhance the overall security for customers, reduce fraud and provide enhanced API capabilities.

This UPS update requires you to use OAuth to authorize your PitneyShip® Pro software to perform some actions, like accessing UPS rates or printing UPS labels.

What You Need to Do Now:

To continue shipping and access to special rates with UPS, as well as to avoid delays, you must verify your UPS shipping account by registering it to an existing profile if you have not already done so. Accounts with multiple UPS account numbers must register all of them under a single profile. To prepare for verification, please gather your profile’s username, password, and UPS account numbers.

Steps to create a new UPS account and register to a profile.

  1. Click on this link to create a new UPS profile if you do not already have one.
  2. Once the account is created and you are signed in, select “Accounts and Payment”.
  3. From the “Add a Payment Method” dropdown, select “Add Existing Account” and it will request that you add your “UPS Account Number”, nickname, and postal code.
  4. You will need either Invoice Data or a PIN to verify your account. This should have been sent to the original email address used at account creation.
  5. Once UPS successfully validates your Invoice Data or PIN, the registration process on is now complete.

If you already have an existing profile, please ensure you have the account’s username and password, and confirm that the UPS account number is registered to the profile.

Steps to verify your UPS account in your PitneyShip® Pro application.

  1. Ensure you've completed the above UPS registration steps.
  2. Sign in to PitneyShip® Pro.
  3. Select Settings > Carriers.
  4. Click on "Verify" next to any UPS account. You will be directed to a UPS login window.
  5. Enter your UPS username. If you have more than one UPS account number, they must all be registered under the same UPS username.
  6. Check the box to agree to the conditions and select "Continue".
  7. Enter your UPS password and select "Log In". Once the verification is complete, you will be returned to the Carriers page. All of the UPS accounts associated with that UPS username and password will be verified.

What do I have to do right now?

If you have an existing UPS Account, you should identify the primary holder of the UPS account, your UPS account number, login credentials, and the PIN# sent to the original account holder’s email.

When does this change go in effect?

To continue shipping and accessing rates with UPS, you must verify your UPS shipping account by June 15th, 2024.

How do I know if I’m affected?

These changes affect you if you ship with UPS on PitneyShip Pro, SendPro Enterprise, or SendSuite Live.

What information is required to verify my UPS account?

You will need to have your username and password, UPS account #, and PIN prepared. The PIN was initially emailed to the original account holder at account creation.

How do I find my UPS account number within my PB application?

To find you UPS account number, click the Setting gear, then select Carriers. From here you can view your list of carriers and your UPS account number will be under the column Account #/Partner ID.

If I need help creating a new profile or registering my account, who do I contact?

You can contact UPS through their Contact Us Page.

What do I need to do if I'm on SendPro Enterprise?

Over the next several days, Pitney Bowes is upgrading your software to the necessary version. Once we've upgraded your software, you will see a new application called "UPS API OAuth Setup" that will guide you through the UPS account verification process that needs to take place before you can ship with UPS.

I'm being redirected to after logging in. What do I do?

If you're being redirected to this URL, that means your UPS account is a Campus Ship UPS profile. Campus Ship profiles cannot be used with Oauth2.0. You will need to create a new UPS account using an email that has never had a UPS profile and from there, add your UPS account numbers to this new profile.

I'm seeing an error after verifying my account in PitneyShip and I still cannot ship UPS. How can I resolve this issue?

You may have only verified your UPS account in PitneyShip without registering your UPS account(s) to a profile. Ensure you complete the "Steps to create a new UPS account and register to a profile" at the top of this page. If you are still experiencing an error after completing these steps, please contact UPS for further assistance.
