Checking the alignment

Before printing an envelope on a given printer for the first time, it is strongly recommended that you perform a test print to check the alignment.

  1. Set up the envelope as desired. See Printing Envelopes.
  2. Select Test Print.
  3. Select your printer and tray.
  4. Select Preview Test Print.
  5. Select your printer's envelope orientation.
  6. Select Print Test Print.
  7. In the "Is the test print good?" window:
    • If the stamp printed in the correct position, click the x in the upper right to close the window.
      Close the window
    • If the stamp did not print in the correct position, proceed to the next section to adjust the alignment.

Adjusting the stamp position

Note: You can also access these envelope adjustments under Settings > Stamp Options > Configure Printer Margins.

  1. If the stamp did not print in the correct position, select Stamp was misaligned or partially printed.

  2. Select Configure Printer Margins.
    Select Configure Printer Margins
  3. Compare your envelope to the images below to determine the approximate position on the grid where the lower left corner of your stamp printed. This does not need to be exact - your best estimate is fine. For example, in this image of a #10 envelope, the lower left corner of the stamp printed at 10 and 6.

Tip: You can zoom in and out in your browser to make the images larger or smaller.
  4. In the Value on Horizontal Scale and Value on Vertical Scale fields, enter the position where the lower left corner of your stamp printed. In the example above, we would enter 10 and 6. The system will use this information to automatically move your stamp to the ideal position.
  5. Select Save & Test Print. A new sample will print. If this sample is still not in the correct position on your envelope, repeat the process.

If for any reason you are unable to determine the position of the lower left corner of your stamp, you can try using the lower right corner instead:

  1. Compare your test envelope to the images below to determine the approximate position on the grid where the lower right corner of your stamp printed.
  2. Add the following values to your X (horizontal) value and enter the total in the Value on Horizontal Scale field.
    • For #10 envelopes, add 4.97 to your X coordinate value
    • For #9 envelopes, add 4.88 to your X coordinate value
In the #10 example shown above, the lower right corner of the stamp printed at 5 and 6, so we would enter 9.97 in the Value on Horizontal Scale field (5 + 4.97).
  3. Measure the Y (vertical) value as described above and enter it in the Value on Vertical Scale field (do not add anything to it). In the example above, we would enter 6 in the Value on Vertical Scale field.
  4. Select Save & Test Print. A new sample will print.
