Billing the recipient or a third party for shipping costs in PitneyShip, PitneyShip Pro, PitneyShip Enterprise, or ShipAccel

Normally, all label costs are charged to the sender's (your) account, but you can charge a shipment's transportation costs and international duties and taxes to the recipient's or another third party's carrier account if you wish.

Products affected: PitneyShip®, PitneyShip® Pro, PitneyShip® Enterprise, ShipAccel

By default, all label costs are charged to the sender's (your) account, but you can charge a shipment's transportation costs, international duties and taxes, and in some cases shipping costs to the recipient's or another third party's carrier account if you wish.

For domestic shipments, this feature is available for FedEx and UPS. For international shipments, it is available for FedEx, UPS, and DHL Express. If you are using a FedEx PB Rates or UPS PB Rates account, you will only be able to bill international duties and taxes, not shipping costs, to another party.

  1. When creating a shipping label, select FedEx, UPS, or DHL Express from the Filter By carrier menu.
  2. In the Accounting & Reference section, select Edit Bill To.
    Edit Bill To
  3. For domestic shipments, choose Recipient or Third Party under Bill Shipping Costs To.
    • Enter the Carrier Account Number.
    • If required, fill in the Country and Payer ZIP Code.

  4. For international shipments, under both Bill Shipping Costs To and Bill Duties and Taxes To, choose Recipient or Third Party.
    • Enter the Carrier Account Number.
    • If required, fill in the Country and Payer Postal Code.
