"Services not started. PlanetPress service is not started, please run Service first!" message in PlanetPress Connect

If you see the message "Services not started. PlanetPress service is not started, please run Service first!" in PlanetPress Connect, the service will need to be manually restarted.

Issue

The message "Services not started. PlanetPress service is not started, please run Service first!" appears.
"Services not started. PlanetPress service is not started, please run Service first!" error message

Cause

The service is not running.

Resolution

If you see the message "Services not started. PlanetPress service is not started, please run Service first!", the service will need to be manually restarted.

This procedure requires Windows administrator rights. Contact your IT department if you do not have administrator access.

  1. Press the Windows key + R or right click on Windows Start button and select Run.
  2. Type services.msc and select OK.
  3. Right-click on PlanetPress Workflow / PlanetPress Workflow 8 and select Start.
  4. Repeat for the following services if present. Depending on your PlanetPress version:
    • PlanetPress Workflow Messenger / PlanetPress Workflow Messenger 8
    • PlanetPress Connect Server / OLConnect_Server
    • PlanetPress Connect MySQL / OLConnect_MySQL
  5. If you receive the message “Error 1069: The service did not start due to logon failure”, see Updating the PlanetPress services password for PlanetPress Connect.
