Setting up and using the handheld dimensioner in PitneyShip Pro, PitneyShip Enterprise, or ShipAccel

A handheld dimensioner is a small device that allows you to quickly measure the dimensions of a package so that you don't have to manually measure the package and enter them.

Setting up the handheld dimensioner

This only needs to be done the first time you use the dimensioner.

  1. When you first turn on the dimensioner, you will see the M2 Setup Wizard. Tap Next.

  2. On the Connect to the Internet screen, tap Connect Now.

  3. Select your Wi-Fi connection and connect to it, then tap Done.

  4. The wizard will check for updates.

  5. When the Next button becomes available, tap Next.

  6. On the Install PitneyBowes MDM screen, tap Install.

  7. When the installation is complete, tap Complete.

  8. Wait while the setup process finishes.

  9. Tap Dimensioner Services.

  10. Tap Grant Access. You will only need to do this the first time the Dimensioner Services opens.

  11. Sign in with your Pitney Bowes username and password. You will only need to do this once, unless you sign out.

  12. To verify that the dimensioner is recognized in PitneyShip Pro, PitneyShip Enterprise, or ShipAccel, sign in on a computer and go to Settings > My Devices. You should see the dimensioner listed there. The DeviceHub name should match the serial number on the dimensioner.

    • To change the name of the dimensioner in PitneyShip Pro, PitneyShip Enterprise, or ShipAccel, select the edit icon.

Using the handheld dimensioner

When using the handheld dimensioner, the measurements are captured and stored in the cloud, then retrieved by PitneyShip Pro, PitneyShip Enterprise, or ShipAccel.

  1. On the Dimensioner Services screen, tap theGet Dimensions button. The "perceptor m2" app opens.

  2. In the "perceptor m2" app, aim the dimensioner's camera at the package, then tap the Get Dimensions button.

  3. For improved accuracy, select the Auto button for the type of item you are scanning:
    • When scanning a hexagonal or a cube-shaped item, select first Auto button.

    • When scanning an irregularly-shaped item, select the second Auto button .

  4. To change the dimensions between metric and imperial, tap the mm/in button.

  5. To clear the dimensions, tap the Delete button.

  6. Tap the Upload to Cloud button. The Dimensioner Services screen opens showing the captured measurements. These measurements have been stored in the cloud and are ready to be used in PitneyShip Pro, PitneyShip Enterprise, or ShipAccel.

  7. In PitneyShip Pro, PitneyShip Enterprise, or ShipAccel, open the label or order where you want to insert the captured dimensions.
  8. Select the Get Dimensions button. If you have more than one dimensioner, select the one you wish to use from the drop-down arrow. The captured dimensions are inserted into the Length, Width, and Height fields.

  9. Once the captured dimensions are inserted, proceed with processing the label or order as usual.
