PitneyShip Release Notes version 1.114.0 (October 1, 2025)
Products affected: PitneyShip®
What's New
New UPS requirement for Recipient Billing
As part of UPS carrier compliance, a new requirement has been introduced for billing shipping costs, duties, and taxes to the recipient. If a Carrier Account Number is entered during shipment creation, users must also provide the recipient’s Payer Postal Code. This change ensures proper billing and aligns with UPS’s updated policies.
To support this, a Payer Postal Code input field has been added to the Shipping Label workflow. When shipping costs are billed to the recipient, the Carrier Account Number becomes mandatory, and so does the Payer Postal Code. For duties and taxes billed to the recipient, the Carrier Account Number is optional. However, if it is entered, the Payer Postal Code field will appear and must be filled in. If no Carrier Account Number is provided, the field will not appear.
Latest Updates
UPS SurePost® replaced with UPS Ground Saver
UPS SurePost® has been replaced by a new service called UPS Ground Saver, designed specifically for domestic, low-priority shipments. This cost-effective option is ideal for packages under 10 lbs and offers delivery speeds similar to UPS Ground, with an additional 1–2 days.
UPS Ground Saver comes in two weight-based categories:
- Less than 1 lb
- 1 lb or greater
All packages are delivered by UPS and include free declared value coverage up to $20. Additionally, real-time photo confirmation is provided as proof of delivery.
Improved Auto-Refill Experience for USPS Postage
We’ve improved the Auto-Refill process to make it easier and more automatic. When your USPS postage balance drops below your set minimum, it will refill with your chosen amount, as long as your credit card or GFS account has sufficient funds.
You can choose to be notified before each refill by checking the box labeled Prompt me before auto postage refill is set to occur in your Shipping & Mailing Settings. If checked, you’ll get a pop-up to confirm, modify, or skip the refill. If unchecked, the refill happens automatically.
If your payment method doesn’t have enough funds or your credit card has expired, you’ll see an error message. These updates apply to all USPS shipments.
