Sealing issues on the Connect+ Series, SendPro P or SendPro MailCenter

Issue

Envelopes are not sealing or only partially sealing.

Cause

There may be an issue with the moistener assembly or the envelope flaps may require extra pressure to be applied to ensure they are sealed sufficiently.

Resolution

Connect+ 500W, SendPro P1500, Connect+ 1000, SendPro P1000, Connect+ 2000, SendPro P2000, SendPro MailCenter 1000 and SendPro MailCenter 2000

1. Open the feeder cover.
   
2. The system warns you that the feeder cover is open. Select Clear message.
3. Press the blue button on the feed deck, then pull the moistener assembly out toward the front of the meter.
   
   
4. Turn the (a) moistener assembly over and examine the (b) moisture pad. Note the location of the (c) wick. Take the moistener assembly and wick to a sink and rinse them thoroughly with water. If the pad contains dirt and debris and looks like the image shown here, you need to replace the moistener assembly. To order a new assembly visit the Pitney Bowes supplies site.
   
5. Dry the moistener assembly and wick thoroughly and replace them back on the feed deck. Important: Make sure that the moistener assembly is perfectly level with the feed deck and that the stripper portion of the assembly is under the mail hold down finger.
   
6. Close the feeder cover.

Connect+ 3000, SendPro P3000 and SendPro MailCenter 3000

1. Open the feeder cover.
   
2. Pull the jam release lever up and to the left.
   
3. Pull the blue sealer assembly upwards and toward you. Note the position of the wick.
   
4. Carefully remove the blue moistener assembly by sliding it away from you toward the back of the meter.
   
5. Remove the wick and then take the moistener assembly and wick to a sink and rinse them thoroughly with water. If the pad contains dirt and debris you need to replace the moistener assembly. To order a new assembly visit the Pitney Bowes supplies site.
6. Dry the moistener assembly and wick thoroughly. Replace the wick back into the meter. Slide the moistener assembly back into the sealer assembly. Important: Make sure that you slide the assembly all the way into the slot.
   
7. Replace the sealer assembly to it's original position on the feed deck..
   
8. Replace the jam release assembly and lock the blue lever back into position.
   
9. Close the feeder cover.
   

Check the envelope flaps are sealed sufficiently

1. Remove the mailpieces from the stacker and examine them to ensure that each envelope flap seats flat against the body of the envelope.
   
2. If necessary, tap the mail on the table to ensure all the mailpieces are even with each other.
   
3. With the mail facing you, run your hand across the top of the stack while squeezing the stack together. Repeat this process as needed.
4. Allow the envelopes to dry undisturbed.
