Importing accounts using a CSV file in Cost Accounting
Use a CSV (comma-separated values) file to add, update, and replace account data in Cost Accounting.

Use a CSV file to import account data into Cost Accounting. You can add new accounts, update existing ones, or replace all account data. Your file must be in CSV format. If you need help getting started, you can download a CSV template with our preferred import headers from the Cost Accounting app.
Important: Certain characters are not allowed in account names or codes. Do not use any of the following:
~ ` ^ & - = \ | { } [ ] “ ; < >
To import your accounts:
- Click Import.
- (Optional) Click Download a .csv template if you wish to use our preferred import headers.
- Click Choose File.
- Click the radio button for Update or Replace.
Important: Selecting Replace will delete and overwrite all existing account information. The default option is Update, which adds to or modifies your current data. Only choose Replace if you intend to replace all of your existing accounts. - Click Continue.
