How to calibrate a J696 label printer used with SendSuite Live, SendSuite Xpress, and more
How to calibrate a J696 label printer used with SendSuite Live, SendSuite Xpress, and more
Products affected: J696 printer, SendSuite® Live, SendSuite® Tracking, SendSuite® Arrival®, SendSuite® Xpress, Ascent™
Follow these steps to perform a quick calibration on a J696 printer:
Confirm the printer is
on and has media loaded.
Press and hold the
FEED
button until at least one full label is output, then release the button and wait for the printer to process the data.
One of the following calibration statuses will display:
CALIBRATION COMPLETE will be displayed if the calibration was successful. The media will advance to the top of next media.
CALIBRATION FAILED will be displayed if calibration was not successful.
WARNING LOW BACKING is a normal message when calibrating die-cut media mounted on a translucent liner or a notch tag stock media.
If the calibration failed, press and hold the
FEED
button until the tops of two consecutive labels have been output.
If CALIBRATION FAILED is displayed, perform a standard calibration.
Follow these steps to perform a standard calibration on a J696 printer:
Note:
When calibrating a gap or reflective media, press and hold the
FEED
button until at least one label is output.
Confirm the printer is on.
Press the
Menu
button until you get to
Media Settings
.
Press
Enter
.
Use the
Down
button and scroll to
Sensor Calibration
.
Press
Enter
to access the
Sensor Calibration
.
Press the
Down
button to
Perform Calibration
.
Press
Enter
.
Press
Yes
to proceed.
Proceed according to the following the media types:
Die-Cut:
remove a label or two from the liner, then install the media, position the media sensor under the liner area, and press
ESC
.
Notched (or Reflective):
install the media, then position the media sensor under a notch (or black mark), and press
ESC
.
Continuous:
install the media, position the media sensor under the stock, and press
ESC
.
Scan Paper:
use this for all media except
Continuous
, position label material (and liner, if any) over the sensor, and press
ESC
.
No media:
press
ESC
.
Confirm that the printer displays CALIBRATION COMPLETE.
Press the
ESC
and then
EXIT
to return to
READY.
