Products affected: PitneyShip® Enterprise
What's New
Introducing FedEx Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) for increased security
FedEx has introduced Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to enhance security and meet carrier compliance requirements. Starting May 16, 2025, users must now verify their identity to access FedEx rates and print shipping labels. This change applies to new and existing users, except those using a FedEx Single Payer account.
An Authenticate option will appear in the Carrier Settings and during the shipping process for users with an existing FedEx account.
You can authenticate your account using a verification code sent via email, text, or phone call, verify your account details using a recent invoice, or call FedEx. You must complete the authentication process within 30 minutes. If a method is blocked due to multiple failed attempts, it will remain locked for 45 minutes, but users can try other available methods.
Authentication codes are sent to the user’s registered phone number or email. Each FedEx account must be authenticated separately. We are rolling this feature out to users in phases.
Quick steps:
- Select Settings > Carriers.
- Click on Authenticate next to the FedEx account.
- Select your authentication method and click Next.
- Fill in the necessary details for your selected authentication method and click Authenticate.

USPS services are now available for shipments to and from all U.S. territories
Users can now ship to and from all U.S. states and territories using USPS. These territories include Guam, Puerto Rico, Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, Hawaii, and Alaska.
This update applies to the following areas:
- Shipping Workflows: Create Shipping Label, Create Ship Request, and Create Presets.
- Order Processing: Ship Orders, which include Import CSV, Address Book selection, Single/Bulk Edit, and Single/Bulk Print.
- ERR (Electronic Return Receipt) Processes: Certified Email, Ship Request, and Import.
FedEx package drop-off locations
We've added a new feature that lets users choose designated drop-off locations for FedEx packages.
Users can filter by ZIP Code and Radius to find the nearest drop-off location. Clicking the Search button will display the results. The ZIP Code field is mandatory; an error message will appear if it is not filled in when the Search button is clicked. The default search radius is set to 5 miles.
Quick Steps:
- Click > Drop Off Locations.
- Select the carrier.
- Enter the ZIP Code.
- Select the Search Radius.
- Click Search.
Added Automated Export System (AES) validation for international shipments
A new validation for AES Exemption has been introduced to enhance compliance with export regulations. This validation is applicable when users:
- Enter the total cost of customs items
- Add or update additional customs details under AES Exemption
It affects all international shipments, regardless of their value, and applies to all carriers.
Previously, users could incorrectly enter a line-item value over $2,500 and still select the AES Exemption code NOEEI 30.37(a). This issue has been resolved, and entries will be validated appropriately to comply with AES exemption rules before label printing.
Quick steps:
When creating a shipping label, under the International Shipment Details:
- Click Add First Item.
- Fill in the necessary fields, including the total value, and click Save.
- Click Save & Close if you only have one item, or click Add Another Item to add more to the shipment contents.
- Click Add Customs.
- Select the AES Exemption and click Save & Close.
Automated Address Book - Configurable Exports
We have introduced a new feature called Schedule Automatic Exports for Address Book, which allows users to schedule exports in advance. Users can view, edit, or delete their scheduled exports by navigating to the Automatic Export List tab in the Task Scheduler. The status of each scheduled export is also displayed on the History screen under the same tab.
Users can set a specific date and time for when they want the export to run. Additionally, they can enter SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) details to upload the exported file to a configured server automatically. There is also an option to add email addresses to receive notifications if an export fails, helping users stay informed and take prompt action if needed.
Quick Steps:
- Click the gear icon to access Settings > Address Book.
- Click Export > Export Automatic Contacts.
- Enter the Folder Path and SFTP URL.
- Select the authentication option.
- Enter an email in the Notifications section.
- Schedule the export.
- Click Save Configuration.
Latest Updates
Added the ability to configure login policy
Users can now set up, apply, and update a custom login policy for their shipping activities. To use this feature, navigate to Notification & Templates > Login Policy. Here, users can define their own Rules of Behavior and establish specific conditions that trigger a policy notification whenever someone logs in to ship.
To access this feature, the user's subscription must include the Shipping Policy Plan and the Login Policy option must be enabled on the Sign In Security page by an Admin user.
Added tax fields for international shipping when using FedEx
Tax fields are now available for UPS and FedEx when creating international shipments. This allows users to enter important tax information for international shipping, including:
- Value-Added Tax (VAT)
- Goods and Services Tax (GST)
- Employer Identification Number (EIN)
These fields can be accessed across all major shipping workflows, including:
- Create Shipping Labels
- Create Ship Request
- Ship Order
Additionally, if supported by the selected carrier, these tax details will be included in the Commercial Invoices.
Quick steps:
When creating an international shipping label:
- Click Add Customs.
- Fill in the tax fields, and click Save & Close.
Improved filtering options by adding a domestic and international shipment filter
We’ve added a new filter on the History screen that allows users to easily sort shipments by Domestic or International.
- Domestic Shipments show records of origin and destination within the same country.
- International Shipments display records of origin and destination in different countries and include customs information.
Quick Steps:
- Click > .
- Click the Shipments filter.
- Select Domestic Shipments or International Shipments.
International shipping settings - Added preview of Logo and Signature
Users can preview the uploaded logo and signature for a carrier account. These images can be viewed in the International Shipping settings under the Commercial Invoice tab before completing the setup.
History - Data visibility
We have implemented a new data rule for shipping and mailing workflows on the History screen. Users can now view up to 2 years of data at a time, with the end date being the current date. This limitation applies even if your company's data retention period is longer. In other words, regardless of whether your data is stored for 5, 7, or even 10 years, the History screen will only display data from the past 2 years. To check your company's full data retention period, please go to My Settings > Data Management > Data Download.
