New Features

Royal Mail - Shipping from Great Britain to Northern Ireland - Windsor Agreement

We have introduced new functionality to comply with the latest UK government guidelines for shipping between Great Britain and Northern Ireland. This feature will be available on May 1, 2025. This applies specifically to items sent from Great Britain to Northern Ireland, particularly to BT postal codes using Royal Mail. Note that the Windsor Agreement does not apply to shipments within BT postal codes.

After selecting the package type and rate, users will choose between Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Consumer (B2C) shipments, with B2B as the default option. B2B shipments are necessary for carrier auditing purposes. For B2B shipments, it is required to complete the UK Internal Market Scheme (UKIMS) and Economic Operators Registration and Identification (EORI) fields for both the sender and recipient on the Customs Forms screen. B2C shipments will continue to use the existing international Custom Form.

EORI numbers, which are used for customs clearance in the EU, can be up to 14 alphanumeric characters (e.g., GB123456789101). UKIMS numbers allow businesses to move goods between Great Britain and Northern Ireland without paying EU duty and can be up to 32 alphanumeric characters (e.g., GBUKIM12345678910100000000000000). For B2B shipments, the Sender EORI, Recipient EORI, and Harmonized System (HS) Code are mandatory, with HS Codes limited to 10 numeric characters. If the package value exceeds £135, users must also provide either the Sender UKIMS or Recipient UKIMS; otherwise, an error will occur when printing the shipping label.

As part of the Windsor Agreement, users will now see new Export Type categories, including Commercial Sample, Documents, Gift, Merchandise, Other, Returned Goods, and Mixed Content. An Export License Number Required checkbox has been added to the Additional Custom Forms for B2B and B2C shipments. Only the EORI number will be displayed on the History screen if both UKIMS and EORI numbers are entered.

Automate weight input

The new feature will automate the process of entering package weight data into the designated weight field. When a package is on the scale, and a user creates a shipping label, the system automatically captures and records the weight from connected digital scales.
