USPS® 2022 Holiday Peak Shipping Surcharge
Effective October 2

The USPS has announced a peak shipping period surcharge for the 2022 holiday season. The charges will apply to both commercial and retail domestic competitive parcels from October 2, 2022 through January 22, 2023.

The USPS peak shipping rate increase impacts these specific USPS shipping services: Priority Mail Express®, Priority Mail®, First-Class® Package Service, Parcel Select, Parcel Return Service, and USPS Retail.

Visit our carriers page to learn more about the peak holiday surcharges for UPS® and others.

The temporary rate increases will go into effect at 12:00 a.m., Central Time, on Oct. 2, 2022, and remain in place until 12:00 a.m., Central Time, Jan. 22, 2023. International shipments will not be impacted.

The seasonal adjustments are designed to address the higher handling costs associated with holiday shipping activity and are in line with competitors’ practices.

The Postal Service offers some of the lowest mail postage rates available in the industrialized world and these temporary rates will help keep the Postal Service competitive among other parcel couriers.
