2021 USPS^® Peak Holiday Shipping
Rate Increase
Effective October 3

The USPS announced a temporary rate adjustment for packages that will be in effect from Sunday, October 3, 2021, through Saturday, December 25, 2021. The USPS first introduced a peak holiday shipping rate increase in 2020. The seasonal adjustments are designed to address the higher handling costs associated with holiday shipping activity and are in line with competitors’ practices. 

The USPS peak shipping rate increase impacts these specific USPS shipping services: Priority Mail Express^®, Priority Mail^®, First-Class^® Package Service, Parcel Select, Parcel Return Service, and USPS Retail Ground. For 2021, the peak holiday rate increase will include Post Office retail and commercial shipping rates. International shipping products are not impacted.

Below you’ll find the 2021 USPS holiday rate increases.

First-Class Package Service prices increase $0.30 for all weights across all zones, for both Retail and Commercial parcels 

Commercial pricing with SendPro is a great way to offset the peak increase by switching to USPS shipping labels rather than using stamps or a meter tape for First-Class packages.

Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express, Parcel Select Ground, and Retail Ground rate increases are based on weight and zone:

• 0-10 lbs:  Zone 1-4 increase $0.25;  Zone 5-9 increase $0.75
• 11-20 lbs: Zone 1-4  increase $1.50;  Zone 5-9 increase $3.00
• 21-70 lbs. Zone 1-4  increase  $2.50; Zone 5-9 increase $5.00

Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope and Boxes Increase

Priority Mail Express Flat Rate Envelope and Boxes Increase

All Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express flat rate envelopes and boxes increase $0.75 for both Retail and Commercial pricing.

Commercial pricing with SendPro is a great way to offset the peak increase by switching to USPS shipping labels rather than using stamps or a meter tape for Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express Flat rate envelopes and boxes.

• A Priority Mail Medium Flat rate box using SendPro rate (Commercial) will be $1.75 (11%) less than Retail rate. Even after the peak increase, the SendPro Rate is $1.00 less than the same package sent in January using Retail rates.
• A Priority Mail Express Flat Rate Envelope will be $3.60 (13+%) less than Retail when using the SendPro (Commercial) rate. Even after the peak increase, the SendPro Rate is $2.85 less than Flat Rate Envelope sent in January using Retail rates.
  

Priority Mail Regional Box Increase per Package

Priority Mail Regional rate prices will increase $0.25 for Zones 1-4 and increase $0.75 for Zones 5-9 during the holiday period (October 3 through December 25).
