Sending Certified Mail when printing USPS stamps in SendPro Online or PitneyShip

You can use Certified Mail to get proof of mailing and electronic record of delivery when you print stamps.

You can use Certified Mail to get proof of mailing and electronic record of delivery when you print stamps.

Important: You must attach form 3800 for Certified Mail and form 3811 for Return Receipt.

Select your software version

There are currently two versions of our shipping software. Click on the image that matches your Home screen to view the instructions for your version.

  1. Select USPS from the Home screen.
  2. Select Stamp Sheet or Stamp Roll.
  3. From the Mailing Services / Stamp Value menu, choose the value of the stamps you wish to print. The stamp sheet on the left shows a preview of the stamps that will print.
  4. Click Add extra services.
  5. Select Certified Mail.
  6. (Optional) Select Return Receipt.
  7. Select Print.

  1. From the Home screen, select the Stamps tab.
  2. Select Sheet or Roll, depending upon which one you are printing on.
  3. Select Custom Stamp.

  4. Click Add Extra services.

  5. Select Certified Mail.

  6. (Optional) Select Return Receipt.

  7. Select Accept.
  8. Select Add to Sheet or Add to Roll.

  9. Select Print Stamps.
  10. Attach the top portion of the certified mail label (Form 3800) at the top of the envelope to the left of the postage.

    Important: Make sure that you record any tracking numbers for your records. You will need a tracking number to track the mailpiece.
  11. If using the optional Return Receipt (Form 3811), attach the Return Receipt to the back of the envelope.

Certified Letters cannot be tracked within SendPro Online. Once USPS scans the mailpiece, it can be tracked on the USPS website.
